A Tribute to “Private Lives”

It generated all sorts of Rickman-related items, from Tony Award nominations and publicity to so very many fan reviews and Stage Door stories and pictures. There were countless glowing reviews from theater critics (and maybe one or two that weren't so glowing), and Mr. Rickman even agreed to appear on Charlie Rose to discuss his role in this most recent PL revival. This play delighted us on so many levels and kept us talking on all the various Rickman-related Web forums.

Many people bemoan the fact that, unlike Mr. Rickman's films (most of them, anyway), we cannot obtain a copy of “Private Lives” to add to our Rickman libraries and to keep the memories fresh in our minds. Fortunately, however, all of the publicity generated by this revival, including its showing at the 2002 Tony Awards, has given us the opportunity to collect many clips and screen captures of the play. It's not PL in its entirety, but it's something!

These video clips, screen caps, pictures, etc., can be found all throughout the Rickman Web community, and I plan to archive links to them here. If you know of any sites with PL-related items of interest, feel free to e-mail me and I'll add the links to this page. In this humble way, we can try to preserve “Private Lives.”

So raise a glass of your beverage of choice with Elyot and me in a toast to “Private Lives” . . . with many thanks for a year full of the talented Alan Rickman!
